According to overseas media reports, Sony accidentally leaked important information about the new generation flagship headphones WH-1000XM6, including their appearance, color, price, and release date. The earphones will be available in three color options: black, midnight blue, and platinum silver. They will be priced at 449 euros in the European market and 399 pounds in the UK, about 10 euros higher than the previous generation XM5 at launch. According to the plan, the headphones will start shipping on May 16, 2025, but since the relevant information has not yet been released in North America, American users may miss the first batch of sales.
The leaked information came out from Sony's official website in several regions. Although the relevant content has been deleted, the release time is consistent with the previously published Amazon Spain page.
Judging from the known configuration, the WH-1000XM6 will inherit the foldable design and feature a new QN3 noise reduction chip, 12 microphones, and a 30mm driver unit. The earphones maintain the same battery life as the previous generation, supporting a long battery life of 30 hours, and continue to support 360-degree spatial audio experiences. In addition, it is speculated that high-resolution audio, LDAC encoding, and equalizer settings optimized for games will be supported.
The design of the headphones has also been improved. The headband is wider, making it more comfortable to wear, and the storage box has a magnetic design for more convenient use. The headset will be officially released on May 16th, and further feature details will be revealed at that time. For users who are expecting an upgraded experience, this will be a key moment to decide whether to buy or not. For Sony, this product update is also an important test of the brand's credibility.
