OpenAI's official account posted a tweet on the X Platform announcing that the GPT-4.1 model will be introduced to the ChatGPT AI chatbot starting yesterday (May 14).
Pro, Plus and Team users can select the model from the "More Models" drop-down menu immediately, while Enterprise and Edu users will have access to it in the coming weeks. At the same time, GPT-4.1 mini has replaced GPT-4o-mini and has been made available to all ChatGPT users.
Previous media reports have shown that GPT-4.1 performed better in certain aspects. OpenAI claims that the model is particularly good at handling programming tasks, following instructions precisely and avoiding unnecessarily long outputs.
In real-world tests, GPT-4.1 is more focused on efficiency than GPT-4o and is no longer overly chatty, making it more reliable in professional scenarios. At the same time, its overall performance is comparable to the latest version of GPT-4o and even surpasses it in some aspects.
Compared with its predecessor, GPT-4o, GPT-4.1 brings more comprehensive improvements, which are reflected not only in the accuracy of task execution but also in more stable output quality.
