On May 15, Neuralink's official account posted a tweet on the X platform yesterday (May 14), announcing that in collaboration with the Abu Dhabi Department of Health, the company will launch the Middle East's first UAE-PRIME brain-computer access clinical trial at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi.
Mansoor Ibrahim Al Mansoori, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Department of Health (DoH), announced that the company will launch the clinical trial, called UAE-PRIME, in Abu Dhabi. Note: This is the company's first trial in the Middle East and its first international trial site outside of North America.
The UAE-PRIME trial focuses on the application of brain-computer interface (BCI) technology, with the goal of enabling patients with severe motor and speech disorders to control devices and communicate through their thoughts.
"Together with Cleveland Clinic, we are committed to advancing this technology safely and responsibly, bringing new hope to patients with neurological diseases," Mansoori said. He also noted that Abu Dhabi has always been a driving force for innovation, ensuring that groundbreaking technologies are tested under ethical standards to ultimately benefit patients around the world.
